In Vrindavan, at the Bhuteshwar Katyayani Shaktipeeth in Mathura, it is believed that the hair of Goddess Sati fell at this site. The presiding deity here is Goddess Katyayani, and the Bhairav is Bhuteshwar. It is said that Lord Shiva, in the form of Bhairav, protects all Shaktipeeths, making him the complete manifestation of Lord Shankar. As Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Bhuteshwar and Mathura is revered as the birthplace of Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, performing the Lakshmi Narayan Panchamrit Abhishek and Rin Mukti Shiv Havan at this sacred site is considered highly auspicious and fruitful. The Shakti Peethas are sacred spots where parts of the body of Goddess Sati fell during the mythological episode of Lord Shiva's Tandava following her self-immolation.
