Friday Start of Shravan – Kurukshetra Shaktipeeth Special Shravan Bhadrakali Devi Puja for Protection, Power & Path Clarity To Seek Divine Strength, Remove Inner Weakness, and Realign With Purpose

What makes this Shaktipeeth so sacred that even the Pandavas prayed here before the Mahabharata, and why is Maa Bhadrakali’s worship even more powerful at the start of Shravan? 🛕🌺

Shravan holds deep spiritual significance in Hinduism. It is a month devoted to Lord Shiva and is considered an auspicious time for prayers, purification, and devotion. Many believe that worship performed during Shravan carries special spiritual potency, as the divine presence is felt more closely during this time. This year, Shravan begins on a Friday, a day traditionally associated with Devi worship. When the beginning of Shravan aligns with a Friday, it is considered especially auspicious for performing pujas dedicated to the Goddess. On this occasion, the worship of Maa Bhadrakali is believed to carry great power.

According to scriptures, when King Daksha insulted Lord Shiva and Devi Sati immolated herself in his yagya, Lord Shiva was filled with grief and fury. From his matted locks, he created Veerabhadra and Maa Bhadrakali. Their purpose was to destroy evil and restore cosmic balance. As Maa Bhadrakali was born from Lord Shiva’s hair, worshipping her during the month most beloved to Shiva is considered especially auspicious.

Therefore, Maa Bhadrakali Devi Puja will be organised at the Shaktipeeth Shri Devikoop Bhadrakali Temple in Kurukshetra. According to legends, when Lord Shiva carried the lifeless body of Maa Sati across the universe, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to divide it into pieces to restore cosmic balance. Wherever her body parts fell, Shaktipeeths were formed. This temple is believed to be one of the 52 Shaktipeeths, where Maa Sati’s right ankle is said to have fallen. It is also said that before the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas, along with Lord Krishna, worshipped Maa Bhadrakali here to seek strength, guidance, and blessings for victory. Devotees believe that Maa Bhadrakali’s worship brings courage, inner power, and protection from negativity. It helps remove confusion and brings clarity to one’s path. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir on the first day of Shravan and invoke these divine blessings and begin the month with strength, clarity, and purpose.

Shaktipeeth Shri Devikoop Bhadrakali Temple, Kurukshetra, Haryana
Shaktipeeth Bhadrakali Temple in Kurukshetra holds immense spiritual and historical importance. Also revered as Savitri Peeth, Devi Peeth, Kalika Peeth, and Aadi Peeth, it is one of the 52 sacred Shaktipeethas where parts of Maa Sati's body fell after her self-immolation. According to scriptures, when Lord Shiva, overcome with grief, carried her body across the universe, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to cut it into pieces to restore cosmic balance. It is believed that Maa Sati’s right ankle fell at this very spot, making it a powerful center of Shakti worship.

This temple is also deeply connected with the Mahabharata. Before the great war, the Pandavas, accompanied by Lord Krishna, worshipped Maa Bhadrakali here to seek her blessings for victory. As a mark of gratitude, they offered their own horses, a tradition that continues even today, with devotees offering horses made of silver, clay, or other materials once their wishes are fulfilled. The temple also holds the unique distinction of being the site where the tonsure ceremony of Shri Krishna and Balram was performed. Rich in legend and spiritual power, this Shaktipeeth is a revered site for seeking divine protection, victory, and wish fulfillment.
