Sanatan Goswami’s elder brother, Srila Rupa Goswami, used to perform Govardhan Parikrama daily without fail. Moved by his devotion, Lord Krishna appeared before him in the form of a young boy and instructed him to stop undertaking the arduous journey. The Lord then stood upon a Giriraj Shila and began playing His flute. As He played, the stone softened and bore His divine imprints. Lord Krishna told Sanatan Goswami that worshipping and circumambulating this sacred stone would be equivalent to completing the Govardhan Parikrama.
