Papankusha Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of the Ashwin month’s Shukla Paksha. This day is considered very auspicious and fruitful. Religious texts state that observing a fast on this day reduces sins accumulated over many lifetimes and grants the devotee the blessings of Lord Vishnu. This day is especially linked to the worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna. It is believed that those who observe this fast with devotion are free from suffering, and their families are protected by Lord Vishnu himself.
According to a religious story, King Kuber of the Chandravansh dynasty was childless and troubled. One day, he visited the ashram of sages in the forest, who advised him to observe a fast on Ekadashi. The king followed the advice, worshipped Lord Vishnu, and as a result, he was blessed with children, his kingdom prospered, and peace prevailed. Therefore, this fast is considered important for the progress of children and family.
On this day, devotees worship Lord Krishna in his childhood form as Laddu Gopal or Santan Gopal. It is customary to chant the Santan Gopal mantra and perform a havan with devotion to bring happiness, peace, well-being, and good health to the family.
