According to religious beliefs, this is the divine place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married. Located in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, Triyuginarayan Temple is an ancient and sacred pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This holy site lies on the ancient Ghutturu route leading to Kedarnath, and its architectural style is believed to resemble the Kedarnath Temple.
According to legends, Triyuginarayan was once considered the capital of King Himavat. It is the sacred place where the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place. It is said that their wedding ceremony was performed in a grand Havan Kund, where sacred fire was lit in all four directions. The temple is called Triyuginarayan because traces of three yugas are believed to be visible here. Within the temple complex there are four sacred kunds: Rudra Kund, Vishnu Kund, Brahma Kund, and Saraswati Kund. It is believed that during the divine wedding, the gods bathed in these kunds, which is why their waters are considered extremely sacred.
