This temple of Lord Vishnu located in Mathura is known as Dirgha Vishnu Temple, about which it is told that this temple is from the Krishna period. The idol of Lord Vishnu installed in this temple is the only such idol in the whole of India.

In the Puranas, Shri Vishnu says that there is no such place in this earth, space, and netherworld that is as dear to me as Mathura. It was established 4500 years ago, which was built to remember the six-armed form of Shri Krishna and to save Prayag, the pilgrimage of Yamuna. The Lord located here represents the cosmic form of Shri Krishna which he took at the time of the killing of Kansa.
