On the last Amavasya of the Hindu year, offer respect to your ancestors by joining the Pitru Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Maha Aarti in Kashi. Seek their blessings for peace, unity, and positive energy in your family.

In Sanatan tradition, Amavasya is considered a sacred time to remember ancestors and express gratitude toward them. The final Amavasya of the Hindu year is regarded as an especially significant occasion for Pitru remembrance and Pitru Shanti. Rituals and prayers performed on this day symbolize respect for ancestors and the desire to receive their blessings.

It is believed that when ancestors are remembered with devotion and gratitude, the home becomes filled with positive energy, harmony, and mutual affection. Conversely, when the sense of honoring ancestors weakens, families may sometimes experience unnecessary disputes, misunderstandings, or obstacles. Rituals dedicated to Pitru Shanti are therefore seen as a way to restore balance and harmony within the family.

On this sacred occasion, a Pitru Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Maha Aarti will be performed in Kashi. Kashi is revered as the city of Lord Shiva and the sacred land of the liberating river Ganga. According to Sanatan beliefs, ancestral rites performed here are highly auspicious, and Kashi is considered one of the most powerful places to offer prayers for one’s ancestors.

During the Pitru Shanti Mahapuja, prayers are offered with Vedic mantras while taking a sankalp in the name of one’s ancestors. The purpose of this ritual is to express gratitude toward forefathers and seek their blessings. Devotees believe that such prayers, offered with sincere faith, help bring peace, unity, and harmony within the family.

Along with the ritual, the Kashi Ganga Maha Aarti will also be performed. In Sanatan tradition, Mother Ganga symbolizes purity and spiritual cleansing. The Aarti performed on the banks of the Ganga with rows of lamps and sacred chants creates a deeply spiritual and serene atmosphere. Devotees believe that the grace of Mother Ganga helps calm negativity and brings inner peace.

When Pitru Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Aarti are performed together, the ritual becomes a beautiful union of devotion, gratitude, and spiritual balance. It is not just a ceremony but a sacred opportunity to express love and respect for one’s ancestors.

If you seek peace for the souls of your ancestors, greater harmony in your family, and positive energy in life, participating in this special Pitru Shanti Mahapuja on the last Amavasya of the Hindu year is considered highly auspicious.

Through Sri Mandir, you can join this sacred ritual by offering your sankalp and express your devotion and gratitude toward your ancestors while seeking their blessings.

Pishach Mochan Kund, Assi Ghat,Kashi, Uttar Pradesh

Pishach Mochan Kund, Assi Ghat,Kashi, Uttar Pradesh
Kashi, often called the city of liberation, is considered one of the most sacred places for attaining moksha and performing ancestral rituals. It is widely believed that anyone who takes their final breath in Kashi attains liberation. For this reason, many devotees choose to spend their final days in this sacred city.

The Pishach Mochan Kund in Kashi is especially known for rituals related to Pitru Dosha and ancestral peace. References to this sacred site are found in the Garuda Purana and the Kashi Khand, which state that performing rituals such as pind daan, tarpana, and Pitru Dosha nivaran here helps fulfill the unfulfilled desires of ancestors and brings them peace and liberation.

The history of Pishach Mochan Kund is considered extremely ancient. It is believed that this sacred site existed even before the descent of the Ganga on earth. According to legend, the place is connected to the story of a Brahmin who, due to his deeds, became a pishach (spirit). Under the guidance of Sage Valmiki, he worshipped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in this kund to attain liberation. Since then, the place has been known as Pishach Mochan.

Assi Ghat in Kashi, also known as Varanasi or Banaras, is situated on the banks of the sacred Ganga and is considered one of the most revered spiritual locations in the city. Pilgrims from across India and around the world visit this ghat to take a holy dip in the river. It is believed that bathing in the Ganga, participating in the Ganga Aarti, and offering prayers at Assi Ghat help wash away sins and open the path toward spiritual growth and liberation, while also bringing peace to one’s ancestors.
