🕉️The Garuda Purana and Kashi Khand testify that Lord Shri Vishnu himself declared: offerings made in Kashi on Amavasya carry tenfold merit. Among Kashi’s sacred spots, Pishach Mochan Kund is supremely revered. Here, it is said that even restless or cursed souls (preta) attain liberation. Scriptures recount how a Brahmin, once cursed to become a pishach, was freed after tarpan was offered at this very kund. At Assi Ghat, the sacred Ganga Aarti is performed, where the river of light guides departed souls from darkness into peace. Witnessing or participating in this act is considered an offering of divine radiance to ancestors.

The Pishach Mochan Kund in Kashi is particularly known for its importance in Pitru Dosha Shanti. It is mentioned in the Garuda Purana and Kashi Khand, which describe how performing Pind Daan, Tarpan, and Pitru Dosha Nivaran pujas at this kund fulfills the unfulfilled wishes of ancestors and grants them peace and liberation.The history of the Pishach Mochan Kund is very ancient. It is said that this pilgrimage site existed even before the descent of the Ganges. The kund is associated with a story of a Brahmin who became a Pishach (demon) due to his actions. Under the guidance of Maharishi Valmiki, he worshipped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in the kund to attain liberation. From then on, the place became known as Pishach Mochan.
