Masik Durga Ashtami Special Maha kaal Bhairav Pujan and Havan and Kalika Pujan for Blessings to Attain Fearlessness and Protection from Negative Energies

In Hinduism, Shukla Ashtami Tithi of every month is celebrated as Masik Durga Ashtami. This day is dedicated to Maa Durga. It is believed that worshipping Maa Durga on this day fulfils all wishes. There is a popular story behind worshipping Maa Durga on Durga Ashtami. Once, the earth was engulfed in terror from demons who began to conquer heaven. During this time the demons also killed many gods and goddesses, the most powerful demon among all the demons was Mahishasura. To defeat Mahishasura, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma created Maa Durga in the form of Shakti and all the gods provided weapons and armour to Maa Durga. Then Maa Durga appeared on earth and destroyed the demons. Since then, the festival of Durga Ashtami has been celebrated.

According to religious texts, just as Maa Kali is a fierce form of Goddess Durga similarly Lord Kaal Bhairav is the wrathful incarnation of Lord Shiva. Therefore, worshipping Lord Kaal Bhairav along with Maa Kali on Durga Ashtami is highly auspicious. It is believed that worshipping Lord Bhairav and Maa Kali on this auspicious day removes all fears from the devotee’s life. According to legends, Lord Shiva entrusted the responsibility of protecting all Shaktipeeths to Lord Bhairav. Therefore, special worship of Kaal Bhairav is conducted in all Shaktipeeth temples. The virtue of visiting the goddess temples is considered incomplete without the darshan of Kaal Bhairav. It is believed that Maha Kaal Bhairav and Maa Kali destroy all negative energies and bless the devotees with fearlessness. Therefore, on the auspicious day of Durga Ashtami, Maha kaal Bhairav Pujan and Havan and Kalika Pujan will be organised at the Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple. According to legends, this place is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where a part of Goddess Sati's right foot fell when Lord Shiva was performing the Tandav dance with her body. Thus, it is considered as a highly sacred site. Therefore, participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive the divine blessings of Kaal Bhairav and Maa Kali for fearlessness and protection from negative energies.

The Kali Ghat Temple, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, revered as the deity of power, energy, and destruction. According to mythological tales, it is believed that here, the right toe of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body and performing the Tandava dance in grief. For this reason, this place is included among the extremely sacred 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple houses an idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form, where she is seen standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva's chest, adorned with a garland of soft skulls around his neck, holding some axes and severed heads in her hands, with some skulls tied around her waist. Her tongue is protruding outward with drops of blood dripping from it, made of gold.

The current temple was constructed under the patronage of the Saborno Roychoudhury family & Babu Kaliproshad Dutto, with construction starting in 1798 and completing in 1809.
