However, seeing her sister's joy, Sudeha became jealous and, in an act of cruelty, killed the child and threw his body into the very lake where the lingas were immersed. When Ghushma came to know of this tragic event, she did not waver in her faith. Calm and composed, she continued her worship of Lord Shiva. Deeply moved by her sincere devotion, Lord Shiva manifested before her, brought her son back to life, and asked her to request a boon. Ghushma, embodying forgiveness, asked for her sister to be pardoned and requested the Lord to reside forever at that very spot. Lord Shiva granted her wish and declared that He would be known here as "Ghushmeshwar." Thus, the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga was established at this site. To this day, devotees perform 101 circumambulations (parikrama) of the temple in remembrance of Ghushma’s pure devotion, firmly believing that wherever there is true bhakti, the Divine Himself appears.
