Triyuginarayan Temple located in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, is an ancient and holy pilgrimage site, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This ancient pilgrimage site is located on the route going to Shri Kedarnath from the ancient route Ghuttur and its structure is considered similar to the Kedarnath temple. According to stories, Triyuginarayan was considered the capital of King Himavat. This is the holy place where the marriage of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati took place. It is said that their divine marriage was completed in a grand Havan Kund, where fire was lit in all four directions. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and all gods and goddesses and sages were present in this divine marriage ceremony. Even today, devotees take the ashes of that holy Havan Kund to their homes and consider it a blessing for a happy married life.
This temple was named Triyuginarayan because signs of three eras are seen here. It is considered a symbol of the divine relationship of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Maa Parvati. Four holy ponds are located in the temple complex - Rudrakund, Vishnu Kund, Brahma Kund, and Saraswati Kund. It is believed that at the time of the Shiva-Parvati marriage, the gods bathed in these ponds, therefore their water is considered extremely holy. Especially regarding Saraswati Kund, it is believed that water flowed into the pond from Vishnu ji's navel himself.
