Many stories are associated with Pitru Paksha, one of which relates to the Mahabharata. After Karnaās death, when he ascended to heaven, he received gold and ornaments but was denied food. When Karna asked Indra the reason, Indra replied that though Karna had donated generously during his lifetime, he never offered food or water to his ancestors. Indra then granted him 15 days on Earth to perform Shraadh for his forefathers. These 15 days became known as Pitru Paksha or Shraadh. With this same significance, the Chaturdashi Tithi Puja in Kashi is being organized - an opportunity not to be missed.

The history of Pishach Mochan Kund is ancient. It is said to have existed even before the descent of the Ganga. It is connected to the story of a Brahmin who, due to his actions, was cursed to become a Pishach (demon). Guided by Sage Valmiki, he worshiped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in this Kund for liberation. Since then, the site became known as Pishach Mochan.
Assi Ghat, in Kashi (Varanasi/Benaras), lies on the banks of the holy Ganga and is one of the most significant spiritual sites. Pilgrims from India and abroad come here to bathe in the sacred river, believing that it washes away sins and paves the way to liberation.
