Kashi city, which is also called the city of salvation, is considered the supreme pilgrimage for ancestor peace and attaining salvation. It is believed that whoever takes their last breath in Kashi attains salvation. For this reason, many devotees prefer to reside here in their final days. The Pisach Mochan Kund located in Kashi is especially famous for calming ancestor defects. This is also mentioned in the Garuda Purana and Kashi Khand, where it is stated that by performing ancestral offerings, water offerings, and ancestor defect removal puja at this pond, the unfulfilled desires of ancestors are fulfilled and they attain peace. The history of Pisach Mochan Kund is very ancient. It is said that this pilgrimage site existed even before the descent of the Ganges. This pond is associated with the story of a Brahmin, who had become a ghost (demon) due to his deeds. Under the guidance of Sage Valmiki, he worshipped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in the pond to get liberation. Since then, this place became famous by the name Pisach Mochan.
Kashi, also called Varanasi or Banaras, is situated on the banks of the holy Ganges, and Assi Ghat is one of its most revered spiritual sites. Pilgrims coming from the country and abroad come here to take a holy dip in the Ganges. They believe that this bath washes away sins and opens the path to salvation. It is said that by bathing on auspicious occasions, participating in the Ganga Aarti, and praying at Assi Ghat, blessings of health, prosperity, and spiritual growth are received, and also the ancestors attain peace.
