How were Rahu and Ketu born? 🕉️
According to legend, during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), the demon Swarbhanu disguised himself as a deva (god) and consumed the nectar of immortality (Amrit). However, Surya (Sun) and Chandra (Moon) recognized him and reported it to Lord Vishnu. In response, Vishnu severed Swarbhanu’s head from his body. His severed head became Rahu, while his headless body transformed into Ketu. Since this event, Rahu and Ketu came into existence. Rahu’s aggressive energy and Ketu’s mysterious power have increased uncertainty and difficulties in the universe. To reduce the negative and inauspicious effects of these planets, a Rahu-Ketu Dosh Shanti Puja and Shiv Rudrabhishek Anushthan will be organized at Shri Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple in Haridwar.
