The story of Maa Tara’s appearance is linked to the Samudra Manthan (churning of the cosmic ocean). When the deadly poison Halahala emerged, Lord Shiva consumed it to save the entire universe. However, the poison was so potent that even Mahakaal (Shiva) was affected by its impact. At that moment, Maa Tara manifested and, as the compassionate Divine Mother, cradled Shiva in her arms and nursed him. Her divine amrit neutralized the effects of the poison, and Shiva was restored to health. This powerful event reveals Maa Tara’s nurturing and protective nature. It is believed that just as she freed Lord Shiva from the grip of poison, she also removes all troubles from the lives of her devotees and blesses them with victory and protection. This day is not only significant for receiving Maa Tara’s grace but also highly auspicious for obtaining Lord Shiva’s blessings. According to the scriptures, the combined worship of Shiva and Shakti on this day frees devotees from all life’s sufferings.
