🔱 Among the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas, Grishneshwar is the final and highly revered one, located near the Devagiri hills in Maharashtra. It is not just a pilgrimage site, but also a living symbol of immortal devotion to Lord Shiva. According to legend, a woman named Ghusma used to make 101 Parthiv Shivlings daily, worship them, and immerse them in a pond. One day, out of jealousy, her sister killed Ghusma’s son, but still Ghusma did not stop her worship.
🔱 Pleased with her unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva himself appeared, brought her son back to life, and asked her to request a boon. Ghusma asked not for revenge, but for forgiveness for her sister and for Shiva to remain at that very place forever. Lord Shiva agreed and declared that he would reside here as “Ghushmeshwar” (or Grishneshwar).
🔱 In remembrance of this devotion and tradition, Rudrabhishek is being organized this Monday at Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga. In this sacred worship, Lord Shiva will be bathed with water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar, along with the chanting of Rudra mantras and havan rituals. This puja is especially beneficial for those suffering from long-term mental stress, illness, or disharmony in the family environment. Lord Shiva agreed and declared that he would reside there as “Ghushmeshwar.” Thus, Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga was established. To this day, devotees perform 101 circumambulations of the temple in memory of Ghusma’s devotion, believing that wherever there is true faith, Lord Shiva manifests himself.
