🌿 In Hinduism, Sarvapitra Amavasya marks the final day of Pitru Paksha, observed especially for offering reverence and respect to ancestors. 🪔 The Story of Pitru Paksha:
Several stories about Pitru Paksha are prevalent, one of which comes from the Mahabharata. After Karna’s death, when he went to heaven, he received gold and jewels but not food. Karna asked Indra the reason, and Indra explained that though Karna donated generously throughout his life, he never offered food or tarpan to his ancestors. Indra then granted Karna 15 days on earth to perform Shraadh for his forefathers. These 15 days came to be known as Pitru Paksha or Shraadh. For this reason, when Shraadh rituals are performed at the Triveni Sangam in the sacred city of Prayagraj, their results are considered even more grand and fruitful.
