Sawan is considered the holiest month in the Hindu calendar, dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. All Mondays of Sawan hold great significance for devotees and are believed to be highly auspicious. If you were unable to devote time for Shiva worship throughout the month, the final day offers a rare opportunity to surrender to Him from the comfort of your home. According to mythology, after traversing the three realms, Lord Shiva comes here to rest at night. It is said that this is the only temple on earth where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati play a divine game of dice (chaupar) every night. After the evening shayan aarti (ritual before sleep), the chaupar board is laid out inside the sanctum, which is then sealed.
