It is believed that the sound of 'Om' was first uttered by Lord Brahma, and the Vedas also begin with 'Om'. Maa Narmada flows in the shape of Om here, which makes this place even more sacred. It is said that this is the place where Shiv Ji and Goddess Parvati play Chaupar (a board game) every night. Every night, a Chaupar board is set in the sanctum, and the temple is closed. However, by morning, the pieces of the game are found scattered. This sight gives devotees an extraordinary and divine experience.
For this reason, the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is considered the most important pilgrimage site after all others.
