According to scriptures, the story of Lord Rahu begins during the Samudra Manthan, the great churning of the ocean. An asura named Svarbhanu cleverly disguised himself and sat between Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chandra Dev (the Moon God) to drink the divine nectar of immortality. Lord Vishnu, in his beautiful Mohini form, discovered this and immediately severed Svarbhanu's head with his Sudarshana Chakra. Because the nectar had reached his throat, both his head and body became immortal. The head became known as Lord Rahu, and the body as Lord Ketu. This is why Lord Rahu holds an eternal grudge against the Sun and Moon, and his influence can sometimes cast a shadow over our lives, creating confusion and unexpected challenges.
