Located in Uttarakhand, the Rahu Paithani Temple is considered one of the rare temples in India where Rahu Dev is specially worshipped. According to mythology, during the Samudra Manthan, the asura Swarbhanu sat among the devas and drank the nectar of immortality. At that moment, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to separate his head from his body. Since he had already tasted the nectar, he became immortal. His upper body came to be known as Rahu and the lower body as Ketu. It is believed that after being separated by the Sudarshan Chakra, Rahu’s head fell at this very place in Pauri district, where the Rahu Paithani Temple stands today. Therefore, this place is considered highly significant for Rahu worship.
According to local beliefs, devotees visit this temple to seek relief from Rahu-related doshas. Special pujas are performed here for relief from Kalsarp Dosha, Rahu-Ketu Dosha, and the effects of Rahu Mahadasha. Some legends state that the temple was established by Adi
