To stop him, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to cut off Svarbhanuās head so that he could not become immortal. But since Svarbhanu had already tasted the nectar, he became immortal. The top part of his body (the head) became Rahu, and the lower part became Ketu. It is believed that the head, after being cut off, fell in the Pauri district, where this temple is located. That is why this place became known as the Rahu Temple. People believe that worshipping at this temple helps them get relief from the problems caused by Rahu.
