Sawan is the month that Mahadev calls His own. Every Monday (Somwar) in this month is a day of heightened Shiva Shakti. But the First Sawan Somwar is when the Kanwar Yatra reaches its crescendo. The roads between Haridwar and Kashi are at their most lively with pilgrims. The divine energy on this day is unmatched in the entire Sawan season.
📖 What the Skanda Purana Reveals - Doctrine of Shiv-Sainik Seva:
Millions hold the devotion for Kanwar Yatra in their hearts but cannot participate in the journey because of age, health, professional demands, or distance. Skanda Purana mentions about Shiv-Sainik Seva where you do not carry the kanwar, you carry the spirit of Kanwariyas. Therefore, he who offers water or food to a Kanwariya on the Yatra path performs direct Shiv Seva.

The Kanwar Yatra has two sacred poles. Ganga Ghat, Haridwar is the source, every Kanwariya kneels here to fill their kanwar with Ma Ganga's water before the long walk begins.
Assi Ghat, Kashi is the destination where the Gangajal is finally offered at the feet of Mahadev after hundreds of kilometres of devotion. By offering Jal Seva and Bhojan Seva at both ends of this corridor simultaneously, your seva becomes complete. It covers the entire Yatra route.
