Shri Radha Vallabh Temple Vrindavan

Shri Radha Vallabh Temple is one of the most famous and spiritual places in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. This temple beautifully represents the divine love of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani, which is considered the purest and highest form of Ras Bhakti. This temple is the main shrine of the Radha Vallabh Sect, which believes Radha Rani is the supreme deity. The temple does not have a separate idol of Radha Rani. Instead, her presence is shown through a crown placed next to Lord Krishna’s idol, symbolizing their eternal bond – two bodies but one soul.

The temple, also known as Hit Mandir, was built in 1585 AD by Sundardas Bhatnagar, a disciple of Shri Vanachandra, son of Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu, the founder of the Radha Vallabh Sect. Sundardas worked under Abdul Rahim Khankhana at the court of Emperor Akbar and received special royal permission to use red sandstone, a material then reserved only for imperial buildings. Even Akbar helped financially in building this temple. The original documents related to the temple are still with Sundardas’s descendants in Deoband. According to legends: King Maan Singh once wanted to build the temple but stepped back after hearing a prophecy that the builder would die within a year. This prophecy came true when Sundardas passed away shortly after completing the temple.

The idol of Radha Vallabh Ji is believed to be a divine gift from Lord Shiva to a devotee named Atmadev. Later, Radha Rani herself directed Harivansh Mahaprabhu to bring the idol from Devavan to Vrindavan by marrying Atmadev’s daughters.

It is believed that only those devotees who come with pure hearts and true devotion are able to get the divine darshan of Shri Radha Vallabh Ji. Those who have sinful thoughts or lack sincerity cannot experience the Lord’s divine presence.

Shri Radha Vallabh Mandir is a protected historical monument. It is a rare and beautiful example of combined Hindu and Mughal architecture. Key features include: Built with red sandstone, usually used for palaces and forts. Trifolium – a Mughal-style gallery structure. Nave – a unique design not often seen in temples.

The blend of artistic elements makes this temple a standout architectural marvel in Vrindavan.

Devotees offer Makhan (butter), Mishri (sugar crystals), Peda, Burfi, and flowers to please the Lord.

By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi) is the nearest airport, located about 170 km from the temple. You can take a taxi or use local transport to reach Vrindavan.

By Train: The nearest major railway station is Mathura Cantt, about 13 km from the temple. Cabs and local transport are easily available from there.

By Road: Vrindavan is well-connected via Yamuna Expressway and NH 44. It takes around 3 hours to reach from Delhi.

Regular state transport buses and private bus services are available from major cities of Uttar Pradesh to Mathura and Vrindavan.
