Patal Rudreshwar Cave Temple is a revered shrine located in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand, India. Nestled inside a limestone cave approximately 40 metres long and 10 metres wide, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and attracts thousands of devotees each year. History of the Patal Rudreshwar Cave Temple

According to local legends, the discovery of the temple is tied to a young boy who was grazing cattle near the cave. He entered the cave after having a divine dream in which Goddess Durga revealed the location to him. As the villagers followed him into the cave, they discovered three smaller caves within. In the central chamber, they found a sacred pool, a Nandi idol made of white stone, and a Shiva Lingam. This discovery marked the beginning of worship at what came to be known as Patal Rudreshwar Cave Temple.
