The scriptures emphasize the greatness of Anna Seva because food sustains life itself. The Taittiriya Upanishad teaches "Annam Bahu Kurveeta" that is, produce food in abundance and share it generously. The Vedas declare: "Annadanam Samam Danam Trilokeshu Na Vidhathe" whiich means, there is no seva in all three worlds equal to Anna Seva.
