Mahalaya Sarva Pitru Amavasya-Gajachhaya Yog Gaya 4 Prahar Pitru Moksha Prapti Mahaseva

This is Mahalaya Sarva Pitru Amavasya-the pinnacle of Pitru Paksha. It is the sacred day when all your ancestors, regardless of the realm or life form they currently reside in, stand waiting at your door for a single remembrance or seva. And this year brings a rare celestial event: the Gajachhaya Yoga.

Gajachhaya Yog occurs when the Sun is in the Hasta Nakshatra and the Moon aligns at a specific angle, creating a divine halo in the sky that resembles the shadow of an elephant (Gaj). In the scriptures, this alignment is hailed as the "Maha Muhurat (Greatest Auspicious Time) for Pitru Tarpan". This year, this profound yoga falls on the exact day of Mahalaya Amavasya - a rare convergence that occurs only once in several decades.

🛕 4 Prahars = The Complete Gaya Pilgrimage of the Garuda Purana - Accomplished in a Single Day:
According to the Garuda Purana, the sacred sequence of the Gaya Yatra starting at the banks of the Falgu River, proceeding to Gadadhar (Vishnupad), then Dharmaranya, and finally Akshayavat traditionally takes 5 to 7 days to complete. In this Maha Seva (Grand Offering), that entire sequence detailed in the Garuda Purana will be completed across the four Prahars of this single, exceptionally auspicious day of Gajachhaya:

First Prahar (6:15–9:15) Tarpan: Garuda Purana - "Upon reaching Gaya, the first Tarpan (offering) must be performed in the Falgu River. These offerings reach the ancestors directly."
Second Prahar (9:15–12:15) Seva: Brahman Bhojan (feeding the Brahmins) at the Dharmaranya Vedi. Skanda Purana: This is the very place where Lord Krishna conducted the Pitru Yagya for the Pandavas, opening the doors of liberation for all. Brahmanda Purana: "When the Brahmins eat, the ancestors are satiated."
Third Prahar (12:15–3:15) Arpan: This Prahar encompasses the highly auspicious Kutup Muhurat (11:44–12:32) and Rohina Muhurat. Offerings made at Vishnupad during this sacred window ensure the liberation of 7 generations from both the paternal and maternal lineages.
Fourth Prahar (3:15–6:15) Deepdaan: Garuda Purana: "Offering a lamp (Deepdaan) beneath the Akshayavat frees all ancestors and future generations from earthly bondage." Blessed by Mother Sita's boon—the spiritual merit of Akshayavat is eternal.

🙏 🕉️ Grant your ancestors ultimate liberation. Clear your ancestral debts. Receive their eternal blessings.
