Learn the divine story behind Vishwakarma Puja, where devotees honor the celestial engineer of the universe with rituals, devotion, and prayers for innovation and productivity.
Long ago, in a place called Kashi Nagri, there lived a cart-maker (Rathkar) with his wife. He was skilled and honest in his work, but he could not earn enough to provide more than food for his family. They faced many difficulties, and their biggest sorrow was that they had no children, which made them very sad. To fulfill their wish for a child, they often visited sages, but their prayers remained unanswered. One day, a neighboring Brahmin advised the cart-maker to worship Lord Vishwakarma, saying, “If you sincerely pray to him, all your wishes will be fulfilled.” Following this advice, the cart-maker observed a fast on the upcoming Amavasya (new moon) day, worshipped Lord Vishwakarma, and listened to his story. Pleased with their devotion, Lord Vishwakarma appeared before them and blessed them with the boon of a child. Soon after, the cart-maker’s wife gave birth to a beautiful son. Grateful for the blessings, the couple lived happily ever after, thanking Lord Vishwakarma for bringing joy to their lives.
