Respected Chief Guest, honorable teachers, dear parents, and my dear friends, Good morning to everyone present here. Today, we have gathered on this proud occasion to celebrate Republic Day of India, which is observed every year on 26th January with great respect, joy, and patriotism. This day holds a special place in the heart of every Indian because it reminds us of our Constitution, our democracy, and our responsibilities as citizens of a free nation. Republic Day is not just a national holiday. It is a day to remember our past, understand our present, and work towards a better future. On this day, we salute our freedom fighters, our Constitution makers, and all those who sacrificed their lives so that we could live in a free and democratic country.

India became independent on 15th August 1947, but it did not have its own Constitution at that time. For nearly three years, the country was governed by laws made by the British. To give India its own set of laws and values, the leaders of our nation worked hard to create a Constitution. After long discussions and careful planning, the Constitution of India was completed under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Drafting Committee. Finally, on 26th January 1950, the Constitution came into force, and India became a Republic. From that day onward, the power of the country came into the hands of the people. That is why we celebrate 26th January as Republic Day, to honor the day when India became a sovereign, democratic republic.

The word “Republic” means that the head of the country is not a king or queen, but an elected person chosen by the people. In India, the President is the head of the Republic and is elected indirectly by the people. Republic Day reminds us that India is a country where every citizen is equal, no matter their religion, caste, language, or region. It teaches us the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, which are written in the Preamble of our Constitution.

The Indian Constitution is the longest written Constitution in the world. It is a powerful document that guides our nation. It provides:

• Fundamental Rights to protect citizens
• Fundamental Duties to remind us of our responsibilities
• Directive Principles to guide the government

The Constitution gives us the right to speak freely, practice any religion, get education, and live with dignity. At the same time, it teaches us to respect our nation, our national symbols, and our fellow citizens. On Republic Day, we remember that freedom comes with responsibility. It is our duty to follow the Constitution and help build a strong and united India.

Republic Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. The main celebration takes place in New Delhi, where a grand parade is held at Kartavya Path. The President of India hoists the national flag and takes the salute. The parade showcases:

• The strength of the Indian Armed Forces
• Cultural diversity of different states
• Achievements of the nation
• Marching bands and colorful tableaux

One of the highlights of the celebration is the Bravery Awards, given to children for their courage and selfless acts. This inspires young minds to be brave, kind, and responsible. In schools and colleges, Republic Day is celebrated with flag hoisting, speeches, cultural programs, patriotic songs, and dances. These activities help students understand the importance of the day and develop love for the country.

Republic Day is incomplete without remembering our freedom fighters. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmibai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and many others sacrificed their comfort and even their lives for the nation. They dreamed of an India where people could live freely, equally, and peacefully. Because of their sacrifices, we enjoy the rights and opportunities we have today. It is our duty to respect their struggles and fulfill their dreams by becoming responsible citizens.

Republic Day reminds us not only of our rights but also of our duties. As citizens of India, we should:

• Maintain unity and harmony
• Protect public property
• Help the needy
• Promote peace and brotherhood

A strong nation is built not only by leaders but by honest, hardworking, and responsible citizens.

The youth should stay away from negative activities and focus on positive goals. By using knowledge, technology, and creativity, young Indians can make the country stronger and more developed. Our country needs youth who are not only intelligent but also kind, patriotic, and responsible.

India is a land of many religions, languages, cultures, and traditions. Despite these differences, we stand united as one nation. This unity in diversity is the true strength of India. Republic Day teaches us to respect each other’s beliefs and live together peacefully. Only by staying united can we face challenges and move forward as a strong nation.

Today, India is growing fast in fields like science, technology, education, space research, healthcare, and digital development. From launching satellites to digital payments, India is making its mark on the global stage. However, there are still challenges like poverty, unemployment, pollution, and inequality. Republic Day reminds us that progress is a shared responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in making India clean, safe, and prosperous.
