Explore the spiritual story of Padmanabha Dwadashi Fast, where devotees observe rituals with devotion to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu for protection and moksha.
Once upon a time, there was a powerful king named Bhadrashrava, whose people lived in happiness and prosperity. One day, the sage Agastya visited his palace. The king welcomed the sage warmly and humbly asked the reason for his visit. Agastya said he intended to stay in the palace for seven nights before returning to his hermitage. The king arranged accommodations for the sage and offered him the freedom to stay as long as he wished. The king’s wife, Queen Kantimanti, was exceptionally beautiful, her radiance likened to the brightness of many suns combined. The sage, captivated by her beauty and that of her maid, praised the king and declared him blessed. On the sixth day, the sage expressed astonishment at the queen's beauty and revealed their previous lives. The queen had once been a maid in the house of a merchant named Haridatta, while the king had been an employee of the same merchant. They had both accompanied Haridatta to a temple of Lord Vishnu during a holy day and were entrusted with keeping the temple lamp burning. Their devotion earned them blessings, leading to their rebirth as royalty. Agastya informed the king that he was departing for Pushkar (Rajasthan) to celebrate Kartik Purnima. Before leaving, he blessed the king and queen with the boon of having children. The story emphasizes the importance of devotion, service, and blessings, with Padmanabh Dwadashi Fast being a sacred observance believed to grant prosperity and fulfillment. Listening to this story is said to bring blessings.
