The Gayatri Temple in Basti was built under the guidance of the All World Gayatri Pariwar, whose headquarters is at Shantikunj, Haridwar. The organization was founded by Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya, a revered spiritual leader dedicated to nation-building, cultural awakening, and spiritual upliftment. The temple in Basti began construction in the 1980s when local volunteers and devotees came together to establish it. Since its inception, regular Gayatri Yagyas, Sanskar rituals, and spiritual education programs have been conducted here. The purpose of establishing this temple was not only worship but also to awaken society, promote morality and discipline, and guide people towards self-purification and righteous living.

The architecture of the temple is inspired by traditional Indian temple design, reflecting the beauty of North Indian craftsmanship. Upon entering through the main gate, devotees first see a spacious courtyard. This open area is used for daily yagyas and other religious ceremonies. The temple follows a well-organized schedule for devotees: Morning: 5:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Evening: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Both the morning and evening aarti ceremonies are filled with devotion and create a divine atmosphere. On Purnima, Amavasya, Navratri, Deepawali, and Gayatri Jayanti, special aarti and yagyas are performed, which draw large numbers of devotees.

The prasad offered at the temple symbolizes purity and spiritual energy. The primary prasad is: Panchamrit – a sacred blend of milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar.

Additionally, fruits and sweets, especially boondi laddus, are distributed among devotees. During festivals and special events, bhandaras are organized, serving sattvic meals that provide nourishment not only to the body but also to the mind and soul.

By Train Basti Railway Station is located about 3–5 km from the temple. Direct trains are available from major cities such as Lucknow, Delhi, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi. From the station, autos, e-rickshaws, and taxis are easily available to reach the temple.

By Bus Basti Bus Stand is well connected to cities like Lucknow, Prayagraj, Faizabad, and Gorakhpur. From the bus stand, one can reach the temple through e-rickshaw, auto-rickshaw, or private taxi.

By Air The nearest airport is Gorakhpur Airport, about 70 km away. From there, taxis and cabs are available directly to Basti. Another option is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, located about 200 km from Basti. Direct buses and taxis are available from Lucknow to Basti.
