24 Avtar Temple, Depalpur

The 24 Avtar Temple is a grand spiritual site located in Depalpur town, about 40 km from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Known as the Fifth Dham, this temple attracts devotees from across India and even abroad. The temple is being designed to house the 24 incarnations (Avtars) of Lord Vishnu, the preserver in Hinduism.

History of the 24 Avtar Temple

The foundation stone of the 24 Avtar Temple was laid in 1968-69 by Gurudev Jaykarandas Bhaktamali Paramhans, who also performed a Vishnu Mahayagya at the site. A large 6.25 feet tall Kalash (sacred pot) was made for the main sanctum, and smaller Kalash (3 feet each) were created for other shrines. The main temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, is built using around 8 lakh bricks.
