Maa Siddhidatri Story

Learn the sacred story of Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga, who is worshipped for granting Siddhis (divine powers) and ensuring the well-being and spiritual growth of her devotees.

Maa Siddhidatri Story in English

First Story: According to mythology, Lord Shiva performed intense penance to please Maa Siddhidatri and gained the eight supernatural powers known as Siddhis. Due to Maa Siddhidatri’s blessings, half of Shiva’s body transformed into a feminine form, giving rise to Ardhanarishwar. This powerful form of Goddess Durga emerged from the combined energies of all gods. It is said that when the demon Mahishasur’s tyranny troubled the three realms, the gods approached Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu for help. A divine energy emerged from all the gods present, creating Maa Siddhidatri. Second Story: Mythological beliefs say that Maa Siddhidatri possesses eight Siddhis: Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitwa, and Vashitwa. She bestows these powers upon her devotees who worship her with sincerity. Maa Siddhidatri is particularly fond of purple-colored attire. Devotees are advised to wear purple on Navami (the ninth day of Navratri) and perform her worship, as it is believed to keep her blessings ever-present.
