Maa Kushmanda Story

Goddess Kushmanda is known for creating the universe with her divine smile. When there was nothing but darkness everywhere, she brought light and formed the cosmos with her gentle laughter. Due to this miraculous act, she is considered the first embodiment of creation and is called Adishakti (the primordial energy). She is also known as Ashtabhuja Devi because she has eight arms. In her hands, she holds a kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus, a pot of nectar (amrit), chakra, mace, and a rosary that grants spiritual powers and wealth. Her preferred mount is a lion. The goddess is fond of offerings made from pumpkins, which is why she is called Kushmanda—derived from the Sanskrit word Kushmand (pumpkin). She resides inside the solar system and is the only deity with the strength to dwell in its intense energy. Her radiance illuminates every being, and her divine light spreads across all realms. Every particle of the universe symbolizes her power. Worshipping Goddess Kushmanda with true devotion blesses her devotees with strength, energy, and success. She is easily pleased by devotion and rewards her devotees by fulfilling their desires.
