Prithvi Mantra

The word 'Prithvi' is a Sanskrit name, and in Sanatan Dharma, the Earth is worshipped as a mother. In the Rigveda, Prithvi (Earth) is referred to as the wife of Dyauṣpitr (the sky god). In the Rigveda, both Earth and Sky are addressed as "Dyavaprithvi." Prithvi and deities like Agni, Indra, and Uṣas are considered their descendants. The most powerful mantra for Earth is the 'Prithvi Gayatri Mantra.' In Hinduism, it is considered essential to worship Mother Earth. From birth to death, agriculture to construction, Earth is worshipped in all auspicious and inauspicious activities. Scriptures and Puranas highlight the significance of fasting and rituals dedicated to Earth. According to ancient beliefs, anyone who chants the Prithvi mantra with a pure heart will always have happiness in their life, and all obstacles and hindrances will be removed.

Importance of Prithvi Mantra

In our Sanatan culture, there is a tradition of touching the Earth with the right hand and then placing the palm on the forehead as soon as we wake up in the morning. Our sages and saints established this custom as a way to express gratitude and show respect to Mother Earth. Our bodies are also made of elements from the Earth. The Earth is our mother, giving us everything we need — food, water, medicine, fruits, flowers, clothes, and shelter. All these gifts come from Mother Earth, so we are indebted to her.

Benefits of Reciting the Prithvi Mantra

Before starting any religious ceremony or ritual, people worship Mother Earth through the Prithvi mantra, seeking her blessings for the success of their work. With her blessings, no obstacles or hindrances occur during the ritual. Farmers worship Mother Earth before sowing their crops. With her blessings, they enjoy a good harvest, become financially stable, and experience happiness in their lives. Before constructing a house, shop, or building, the foundation is worshipped as part of a ritual to ensure that there are no issues during the construction. Even after the building is complete, continued worship of Mother Earth ensures that the structure remains strong and stable for years, all thanks to her blessings. Reciting the Prithvi mantra helps prevent arrogance, keeping the person humble and connected to Mother Earth, fostering goodwill with everyone around them. Regular chanting of the Prithvi mantra boosts self-confidence and helps in making strong, decisive choices. Chanting the Prithvi mantra regularly also helps in getting rid of chronic diseases and physical pain.
