🔱 The Legend of Shiva’s Supreme Victory
According to Hindu texts, the asura Tarakasura had three sons who performed deep penance and received a boon from Lord Brahma. They built three flying cities (Tripura) of gold, silver, and iron. Protected by this boon, they became invincible and began to trouble the entire universe, defeating even the Devatas. Helpless, the Devatas went to Lord Shiva for protection. Lord Shiva agreed to help them. He made the earth His chariot, the sun and moon its wheels, and Lord Vishnu His arrow. On Kartika Purnima, with a single, powerful arrow, Lord Shiva destroyed all three cities and the asuras within them in one moment. This divine act earned Him the name Tripurari (Conqueror of the Three Cities), and the Devatas celebrated this as a great Vijayotsav (Victory Celebration).
This Shiv Tripurasura Samhara Pujan is a special remembrance of that great divine victory. The Rudra Havan is a powerful fire ritual, where offerings are made into the sacred fire while chanting the holy names of Lord Rudra (Shiva). This sacred fire is like the divine fire from Lord Shiva's arrow.
