The Someshwar Mahadev Temple in Prayagraj (Allahabad), also known as Someshwar Nath Temple, holds an important place among the holy sites of the city. It is recognized as the residence of Ekadash Rudra. Someshwar Mahadev is one of the Rudras, a form of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Chandra favored his 27 wives, particularly Rohini, which angered Dakhsha Prajapati. Due to his excessive affection for Rohini, Dakhsha cursed the moon with a wasting disease. When the moon sought refuge with Lord Vishnu, he advised him to worship Lord Shiva in Prayagraj. After years of penance, Lord Shiva freed the moon from the curse. It is believed that the moon continues to shower nectar around the temple.
