During this ritual, 100 Durga Saptashati recitations will be completed to invoke the divine blessings of Maa Bhagwati Durga. Along with this sacred ritual, a special havan will also be conducted in which offerings will be made using 21 kilograms of cloves, black pepper, and red sandalwood. These sacred ingredients hold special significance in Devi worship. It is believed that offering these materials in the holy fire purifies the environment and spreads positive spiritual energy.
The Markandeya Purana describes the significance of Durga Saptashati with the verse:
“Sarvabādha vinirmukto dhana dhānyaḥ sutānvitaḥ”
This means that a person who performs Devi worship with devotion and faith becomes free from life’s obstacles and difficulties and receives wealth, prosperity, family happiness, and the blessings of the Goddess.
