Therefore, on the auspicious occasion of Dwadashi tithi during Pitru Paksha, a special Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Lahari Path will be organised at Shri Gangotri Dham in Uttarakhand. According to legend, Gangotri Dham is the place where, after King Bhagirath’s penance, Maa Ganga descended to Earth, and Lord Shiva calmed her powerful flow by holding her in his matted hair.
