But the Sun God (Surya) and the Moon God (Chandra) recognised him and told Lord Vishnu. Right after the demon took a sip of the nectar, Lord Vishnu cut off his head with his Sudarshana Chakra. Because the nectar had touched his lips, the demon did not die. His head became Rahu, and his body became Ketu. Burning with anger against the Sun and Moon for exposing him, Rahu and Ketu were given a place among the planets, and they are known to have a strong and disruptive influence on a person's life.
