According to the Puranas (ancient scriptures),It is believed that by worshipping Goddess Katyayani young women’s desire for marriage gets fulfilled and their wishes for an ideal spouse also get fulfilled. The Katyayani Vrat is known to be first performed by the Gopis (milkmaids) of Vrindavan to attain Lord Krishna as their husband.

The Shri Gadkalika Temple, located in Ujjain, is dedicated to Goddess Kali. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths across the country. Every year, thousands of people come from far to visit this temple. It is believed that all the wishes of the devotees who worship here are fulfilled. This temple is a divine place where the lips of Goddess Sati fell, and it is known by the name of Kalika Temple. The name Gadkalika Temple comes from its proximity to the village of Gad. Raja Harshavardhan reconstructed the temple in the 7th century. It is said that the great poet Kalidasa gained his knowledge through his true devotion to Goddess Kalika. This temple has a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha. Other statues of popular Hindu deities are also present in the temple.
