According to the Puranas, Lord Ganesh is worshipped in eight forms — Vakratunda, Ekadanta, Mahodara, Gajanana, Lambodara, Vikata, Vighnaraja, and Dhumravarna. Among these, the seventh form, Vighnaraja, is especially revered for removing blockages, dispelling negativity, and bringing ease and harmony to life. Wednesday holds special importance for Lord Ganesh. Scriptures say that on this day, Mata Parvati created him, and at that time, Lord Budh (Mercury) was also present on Mount Kailash. Pleased by Ganesh’s divine form, Budhdev dedicated the day of Wednesday to him. Since then, this day has been considered extremely auspicious for Ganesh worship.
It is also believed that remembering and worshipping Lord Ganesh on Wednesdays gradually reduces life’s troubles and smoothens one’s path. That is why he is lovingly called Vighnaharta — the remover of obstacles and the giver of success.
