According to astrology, when a person repeatedly experiences confusion, inability to make decisions, or mental restlessness, it may be due to the imbalanced influence of Ketu. This belief is supported by a well-known mythological story related to the churning of the ocean. When Lord Vishnu, in his Mohini form, began distributing the nectar obtained from Samudra Manthan, the demon Swarbhanu deceitfully sat among the devas and consumed the nectar. Upon noticing this, the Sun and Moon alerted Lord Vishnu. As a consequence, Lord Vishnu severed Swarbhanu’s head from his body using the Sudarshan Chakra.
Due to the effect of the nectar, both the head and body became immortal. The head came to be known as Rahu, and the body as Ketu. Since Ketu has no head, it is associated with confusion, lack of clarity, and indecisiveness. However, it is also believed that Ketu does not only create confusion but can guide a person away from material attachment toward the spiritual path. When balanced, Ketu becomes a source of self-reflection, detachment, and inner clarity.
