In Sanatan Dharma, Purnima holds great significance. Worshipping Baba Bhairav in his Swarnakarshan form on Purnima is believed to bless devotees with debt relief, financial abundance and stability. Baba Swarnakarshan restored even Maa Lakshmi's wealth when she became impoverished. According to legend, there was a 100-year-long war between the gods and demons, during which all of Lord Kubera’s wealth was depleted while providing resources and weapons to the gods, and even Maa Lakshmi became impoverished. In this time of crisis, Lord Shiva, through Nandi, revealed the greatness of Swarnakarshan Bhairav, stating that only Baba Swarnakarshan could refill Lord Kubera’s empty treasury. Following Lord Shiva’s instructions, Maa Lakshmi, Lord Kubera, and all the gods performed rigorous penance for several years. In response, Swarnakarshan Bhairav appeared and showered wealth from his four arms, due to which all the gods including Lord Kubera and Maa Lakshmi became prosperous again.
According to scriptures, Swarnakarshan Bhairav is a sattvic form of Lord Kaal Bhairav, and his worship is performed to attain wealth. He resides in the underworld, just as gold lies hidden within the womb of the earth. On the other hand, Batuk Bhairav is the five-year-old child form of Lord Shiva, which he assumed to revive Maa Parvati. Therefore, it is believed that performing Swarnakarshan Bhairav Mantra Jaap, Batuk Bhairav Stotra Path and Havan on Purnima brings blessings of debt relief, financial prosperity, and stability in life. Moreover, if this puja is performed in Kashi, the abode of Lord Shiva is considered even more auspicious because Lord Bhairav is known as one of the forms of Lord Shiva.
