According to the Matsya Purana, a battle took place between Lord Shiva and the demon Andhakasura. During the battle, a drop of Lord Shiva’s sweat fell to the ground, giving birth to the planet Mars (Mangal). Mars absorbed all the blood from the demon’s body, turning red. After the battle, the gods established a Shivling at the site and named it Mangalnath Mahadev. This temple, located in Ujjain, is known as the birthplace of Mars. It is believed that performing the Manglik Dosh Nivaran Mahapuja, Bhaat Puja, and Shri Mangalnath Mahabhishek at this temple grants blessings to avoid delay in marriage or conflicts in relationships.
