Sarva Pitru Amavasya Jyotirlinga Rameshwaram Special Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan for peace of ancestors' souls and resolving family disputes

In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special significance. This period is considered the most auspicious for performing all rituals aimed at bringing peace to the souls of ancestors. And the most important tithi of Pitru Paksha is the auspicious Amavasya tithi. This is also known as Sarva Pitru Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya. This day marks the end of the Pitru Paksha period and is considered an auspicious time to honour all ancestors. On this day, you can perform Shradh for those ancestors whose Tithi of death is unknown, or for those whose Shradh you may have forgotten to perform during Pitru Paksha. It is believed that on Mahalaya Amavasya, all ancestors visit their homes and bless their descendants who perform Shradh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan for them. According to ancient texts, if the ancestors' Shradh is not performed properly, their descendants may face Pitru Dosh. Due to Pitru Dosh, individuals may face financial losses, family disputes, and health issues. It is believed that by performing the Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan on Mahalaya Amavasya during Pitru Paksha, the souls of ancestors attain peace, and family disputes are resolved.

It is believed that by worshipping Lord Shiva, one gets rid of all kinds of doshas, that is why, after defeating Ravana, Lord Rama visited Rameshwaram to worship Lord Shiva. The Rameshwaram temple holds great spiritual significance as it is dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here in the form of the Ramanathaswamy Lingam. It is also one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas, special shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva across India. According to ancient scriptures, there are 22 Thirthams (holy water bodies) within the temple, where devotees bathe to seek forgiveness for their sins. According to ancient texts, after defeating Ravana, Lord Rama and Sita Devi created a Shivalingam here from sand and performed a special puja to rid themselves of any doshas. Moved by their devotion, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati appeared and blessed them, cleansing them of all sins. Due to this divine event, Rameshwaram is considered an ideal place to perform rituals like Pitru Dosh Puja. It is believed that bathing in the 22 Thirthams of Rameshwar and performing these rituals here can seek forgiveness for any past wrongs and help their ancestors attain peace. This makes Rameshwaram a sacred destination for those seeking spiritual relief and family harmony. Therefore, Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan will be organised at Rameshwaram on Mahalaya Amavasya during Pitru Paksha. Additionally, during the Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing acts of charity for ancestors. It is believed that offerings made during this time yield double the rewards. These offerings include Panch Bhog, lamp offerings (Deep Daan), and Ganga Aarti. By incorporating these additional options—such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti—you can enhance the effectiveness of your puja and gain greater benefits. Therefore, participate in the Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan on Mahalaya Amavasya during Pitru Paksha through Sri Mandir and receive the blessings of your ancestors.

For the Peace of Ancestors Souls
Many times, due to Pitru Dosh, the problems in people's lives do not seem to end. No matter how much effort a person makes, no work is successful. According to the scriptures, you cannot progress until the soul of your ancestors gets peace. In Hinduism, there is a provision of Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan for the removal of Pitru Dosh. It is believed that by performing this puja at Rameshwaram on Mahalaya Amavasya, during Pitru Paksha, the soul of ancestors gets peace and their divine blessings are received.

Freedom from Family Troubles
Many times there is no solid reason for family troubles in some houses, but there is always an atmosphere of tension at home. Pitru Dosh is also considered to be one of the reasons for troubles in the house. It is believed that performing Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan at Rameshwaram on Mahalaya Amavasya during Pitru Paksha brings freedom from family disputes.

For Protection from Negative Energies
It is said that negative energies gather around the person suffering from Pitru Dosh. Due to these negative energies, the ability of thinking and understanding of the person almost ends and the person starts taking unnecessary steps. It is believed that performing Pitru Dosh Shanti Puja and Til Tarpan at Rameshwaram on Mahalaya Amavasya brings blessings of protection from negative energies.

Pitru Paksha Special Panch Bhog Mahadaan
During the Pitru Paksha period, the act of giving (Daan) is considered highly significant. Religious texts state that offering food to Brahmans (Brahman Bhoj) along with feeding cows, dogs, birds, and ants is considered a meritorious act, known as Panch Bali or Panch Bhog. It is believed that when these beings are fed during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied with the food consumed by them and bestow blessings upon their descendants.

Rameshwar, often referred to as Rameshwaram, holds profound spiritual and cultural significance in Hinduism. Nestled on the picturesque island of Rameswaram, it is renowned for its ancient temples and sacred sites, attracting pilgrims from across the globe. The principal deity of Rameshwar is Lord Shiva, worshipped in the form of the Ramanathaswamy Lingam, one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas in India. The significance of Rameshwar extends beyond its religious importance; it is deeply intertwined with Hindu mythology. According to the epic Ramayana, this sacred site is believed to be the place where after defeating Ravana, Lord Rama and Sita Devi created a Shivalingam from sand and performed a special puja to rid themselves of any doshas. Moved by their devotion, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati appeared and blessed them, cleansing them of all sins. Due to this divine event, Rameshwaram is considered an ideal place to perform rituals like Dosh related Puja.

Pilgrims visiting Rameshwar seek to attain spiritual liberation and fulfill their desires through various rituals and offerings. The temples here are a blend of architectural splendour and divine energy, each echoing tales of devotion and penance. One of the most unique aspects of Rameshwar is the presence of both Shiva and Rama, representing the harmonious relationship between the two deities. Moreover, Rameshwar is associated with several sacred water bodies, including the Agni Tirtham, where pilgrims perform rituals for the peace of their ancestors. These rituals are believed to purify the soul and help in the attainment of Moksha. One of the most important rituals performed at Rameshwar is the Pitru Dosh Puja. According to Hindu beliefs, Pitru Dosh occurs when one's ancestors are not at peace, often due to incomplete rituals or wrongdoings in the past. This can manifest as obstacles in the lives of the descendants, including health issues, financial problems, or disturbances in family harmony. Performing the Pitru Dosh Puja at Rameshwar is believed to provide immense relief from these negative influences. It is thought that by offering prayers and rituals to ancestors, particularly in the sacred waters of the 22 Thirthams within the Rameshwar temple, devotees can seek forgiveness for any past wrongs and help their ancestors attain peace.

The effort put into conducting the rituals are well appreciated. I'm glad there is a portal that allows for those seeking to purify their souls and purpose to connect with these prayers. This is a good place even for those who are "NOT religious" to experience tradition and its art forms of performing humbling duties. Appreciate the care towards activities of donation. May Black Magicians and their diseases destroying this earth go extinct. May earth be saved from disasters. Peace 🙏
