If work repeatedly goes wrong without clear reasons, if there are continuous obstacles in marriage, children, or career, or if there is mental unrest and family conflict at home, it may be a sign of Pitru Dosha. It is believed that when the souls of ancestors remain unsatisfied or proper Shraddha, Tarpan, and Pinddaan rituals are not performed for them, they stay restless, and this dissatisfaction affects the ancestral lineage from both mother’s and father’s sides. This causes instability in finances, marital problems, issues related to children, and long-term illnesses. To pacify Pitru Dosha, a simple puja is not considered enough; rather, a deep and scripture-based method is required that can bring satisfaction, peace, and liberation (moksha) to the ancestors.
For this reason, the Amavasya tithi (New Moon day), when spiritual energy works in its strongest form, is considered the best for resolving this dosha. On this special day, Pitru Tarpan, Pinddaan, and Shraddha offerings reach the ancestors directly and satisfy them. Because of this, a special Tri-Tirth Pitru Shanti Puja is being organized through Sri Mandir on this Amavasya. Kashi – Known as the City of Liberation, the Pishach Mochan Kund is considered especially sacred for Pitru Shanti. As per scriptures, performing rituals here fulfills unsatisfied desires of ancestors and grants them ultimate peace. A legend speaks of a Brahmin trapped in a ghostly state who achieved salvation here through prayer and offerings to Lord Shiva, giving the Kund its name and importance.
Gokarna – Located on the coast of Karnataka, this tirth is spiritually powerful. Its Kotitirtha and confluence with the Arabian Sea are especially sacred for ancestral rituals. According to belief, rituals performed here reach ancestors directly and aid in their spiritual progression. It is also connected to Ravana’s Atmalinga legend, further amplifying its spiritual significance.
Rameshwaram – This sacred land is tied to the Ramayana, where Lord Rama performed penance and Pind Daan after defeating Ravana. The Shiva Linga he worshipped still exists. Rituals done here, especially after holy dips in the temple tanks, cleanse sins and help liberate the departed.
