Located in the Aliganj area of Lucknow, this ancient Hanuman temple is considered a center of extreme reverence and faith. It is believed that this place has been connected with divine energy since ancient times. According to mythological stories, when Lord Shri Ram decided to send Mother Sita to Valmiki Ashram, Shri Lakshman and Shri Hanuman Ji stayed in this area while taking her to Bithoor. This is the reason why the connection of this place is linked to the Ramayana period and it is considered extremely holy.
Over time, a temple was constructed here, which was earlier called "Hanuman Bari." Later, this place became famous by the name of Aliganj. At the end of the 18th century, the special recognition of this temple increased further when the idol of Hanuman Ji appeared from here. It is said that an attempt was made to establish this idol at another place, but due to a divine sign, it was established at the same spot where this temple is located today. Over time, this temple was reconstructed and developed many times, which increased its grandeur and importance further. Even in difficult circumstances like the plague, people coming here experienced relief and peace, which deepened the faith in this place. Today, this temple is considered an extremely important site not only religiously but also culturally, where devotees come with strength, faith, and hope.
This temple becomes a center of excessive reverence especially on every Tuesday of the Jyeshtha month. Moreover, a grand Mahavir Mela is also organized here. On special occasions, thousands of devotees reach the temple while performing prostrated circumambulation and ask for their wishes.
