Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the beloved remover of obstacles and giver of prosperity. According to the Puranas, Maa Parvati created Ganesha from the golden sandalwood paste of her own body. When Lord Shiva restored him to life with the head of an elephant, he was blessed as the first deity to be worshipped before any important task. The scriptures also describe eight divine forms of Ganesha, among which Vighnaraja is especially revered for removing obstacles and protecting from negative energies. When worshipped with true devotion, Vighnaraja is believed to bring stability, clarity, and peace - qualities essential for overcoming financial distress.
In Sanatan tradition, Lord Ganesha is also honoured as Rin Nashak - the remover of debts. The Rin Nashak Ganesh Stotram, attributed to Sage Shukracharya, is a sacred hymn that prays for freedom from financial burdens, restoration of balance, and the arrival of wealth and positivity. Wednesdays are considered especially auspicious for Ganesha worship, and with Ganesh Chaturthi in 2025 falling on a Wednesday, this is believed to be an extraordinarily powerful day to seek his blessings for debt relief and prosperity.
