Located in Ujjain, known as the city of Mahakal, the Mayapati Hanuman Temple is a renowned pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Here, Hanuman ji is worshipped in his “Mayapati” (master of illusion) form.
According to the Ramayana, during the Lanka war, when Lakshman was injured and Hanuman ji was on his way to bring the Sanjeevani herb, Ravana sent a demon named Kalanemi to stop him. Kalanemi disguised himself as a Brahmin to mislead Hanuman ji, but Hanuman recognized the illusion and defeated him. After this, the gods bestowed upon Hanuman the title “Mayapati.”
A south-facing idol of Hanuman ji is installed in this temple. It is believed that worship and darshan here help remove suffering and grant strength. Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered especially auspicious for worship, bringing special blessings to devotees.
The Navagraha Shani Temple in Dabra (near Gwalior) holds great significance as part of one of Asia’s largest Navagraha complexes, where all nine planetary deities are installed in one place. The temple complex spreads across approximately 12 acres.
